Palestinian Groups, Arabs Nations Denounce Al-Aqsa Incursion

(MENAFN) Arab countries and Palestinian authorities strongly condemned far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s entry into Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque on Monday.

According to reports, the Islamic Endowments Directorate in Jerusalem stated that Ben-Gvir entered the mosque compound via the Moroccan Gate and toured its courtyards.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry described the action as “a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a provocation to Muslims around the world.” It reaffirmed its opposition to attempts to change the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque and urged the international community to act against repeated Israeli violations in Jerusalem.

Jordan also condemned the incursion, labeling it “a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law,” an unacceptable provocation, and a breach of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Jordan’s Foreign Ministry accused Israel, “as the occupying power in occupied Jerusalem,” of trying to impose temporal and spatial divisions at the site, while also criticizing the continued closure of Al-Aqsa to Muslim worshippers.

Palestine’s Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs called Ben-Gvir’s actions a “blatant assault,” noting that the entry occurred while Israeli authorities continue to bar Muslim worshippers from the mosque.
