Israeli Forces Assault Two Young Palestinians, Arrest 8 in West Bank

(MENAFN) Israeli military forces conducted overnight incursions across Palestinian territories Sunday, detaining eight individuals and sending two to hospitals following violent confrontations during coordinated home invasions.

Media obtained accounts from local sources indicating Israeli troops penetrated the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp in Jericho, situated in the eastern West Bank, where soldiers brutally assaulted two young Palestinian men during residential raids.

Medical treatment was required for both victims, sources confirmed.

Operations in the central West Bank resulted in four Palestinian arrests following aggressive house searches in Silwad, positioned northeast of Ramallah, local witnesses reported.

Northern West Bank incursions produced four additional detentions: two individuals from Al-Araqa village, located south of Jenin, and two others from Bruqin, west of Salfit. All arrests followed systematic home searches, according to ground sources.

The raids underscore a brutal trend: Israeli security forces and illegal settlers have slain no fewer than 1,102 Palestinians throughout the occupied West Bank, encompassing East Jerusalem, while wounding nearly 11,000 and imprisoning roughly 21,000 since October 2023, Palestinian data reveals.

Last July marked a pivotal moment when the International Court of Justice issued a groundbreaking advisory opinion declaring Israel's occupation of Palestinian land illegal, mandating complete evacuation of all settlements from the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The ruling represents one of the most significant international legal determinations on the protracted territorial dispute.
