G7 Foreign Ministers Summit agenda to discuss global peace, stability

(MENAFN) The G7 Foreign Ministers Summit began on Tuesday in Canada, with a primary focus on promoting “global peace and stability,” according to reports.

Canada’s representative, Anita Anand, highlighted widespread agreement among participating countries on the urgent need to address ongoing violence in Sudan and Haiti, as well as to advance a peace plan for Israel and Palestine that envisions both communities living “side by side” in harmony. She emphasized that peace must not involve “the displacement of the Palestinian people.”

The two-day meeting, held near Niagara Falls, brings together foreign ministers from Canada, the US, France, Germany, Britain, Italy, and Japan, along with a European Union delegate. Anand also noted that countries bordering the Arctic had reached consensus on establishing a shared “footprint” in the region.

During a working dinner on Tuesday, ministers are expected to discuss key priorities, including long-term stability in the Middle East, enhancing security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific, and addressing urgent crises in Haiti and Sudan. “We will have a constructive exchange on critical priorities, including advancing long-term peace and stability in the Middle East, supporting security and building prosperity in the Indo-Pacific, and responding to urgent crises in Haiti and Sudan,” Anand said.
